Guida dettagliata all'installazione e al flashing di ArkOS v2.0

We present you how to install ArkOS on an R36S handheld device step by step, follow these steps to complete the installation easily.

Step 1: Get the ArkOS image file

  1. Visit the official page: First of all, you need to go to the ArkOS Wiki page, where there is a complete list of devices and the corresponding download links. The specific link is: ArkOS for R3XS. From this page, you can quickly locate the resources for your device.
  2. Download the image: Based on your device model (R36S), find the matching SD card image file, the file format is .xz, and please ensure the file is accurate to avoid subsequent installation problems.

Step 2: Unzip the image file

  1. Select decompression tool: The decompression tool varies from system to system. If you are using a Windows system, we recommend using 7Zip to decompress the image; if you are using a Mac system, Unarchiver is a good choice.
  2. Execute Decompression: Use the above tools to decompress the downloaded .xz file, after decompression is completed, you will get an .img file, the size of this file is about 8GB, if the size difference is large, you can check whether the decompression process is correct.

To make sure the installation goes smoothly, it is recommended that you use the formatting tool provided by sdcard.org to format the MicroSD card. To do so, download the tool and then follow its instructions to format your MicroSD card in preparation for the subsequent installation.

Step 4: Write the image to the MicroSD card

  1. Pick the writing software: The choice of software varies by operating system. In the Windows system environment, Rufus and Win32DiskImager both software can be very good to complete the task, it should be noted that, although Balena Etcher can also be used, but there may be some compatibility issues; and Mac system users, you can use ApplePiBaker this software to write the image.
  2. Write operation: According to the software you choose, write the .img file obtained from unzipping before to the MicroSD card. Here is a special note about the memory card capacity, if it is a single card setup, it is recommended to use a 128GB or larger capacity memory card; if it is a dual card setup, a 16GB memory card will be enough.

Step 5: Insert MicroSD card

Once the image has been successfully written to the MicroSD card, safely eject it from the computer, then locate the SD1/TF1 slot on the R36S device and insert the MicroSD card smoothly, ready for the next step.

Step 6: First Boot

After completing the card insertion operation, it’s time to power up the device. During the initialization process of device booting, the system will automatically adjust the partition size, and when the initialization is finished, you will see the ArkOS logo appear on the screen.

Step 7: Switch to SD2 (for dual card setup only)

  1. Insert a second card: If you are using a dual SIM card setup, you need to insert a blank MicroSD card into the second slot to prepare for subsequent operations.
  2. Switch Settings: Enter ArkOS interface, click “Options>Advanced>Switch to SD2 for ROM”, after this step, both cards will automatically fill the corresponding ROM folder. It should be noted that both cards are essential for the normal boot of the device under this dual SIM setup.
